Chris Stimson review about company Horsforth Heating & Bathrooms
If I could give less than 1 star I would. I have a receipt I can show to Trustpilot and legal letters and the court judgement to prove every word of this review is true. To this day, Stewart Calvert-Brown is still harassing me, leaving my company malicious reviews when he's had no dealing with my company at all, posting fake and false information about me and my family on social media. One of the most despicable and dishonest individuals I have ever had this misfortune to have come into contact with. Hiring this company and coming into contact with Stewart Calvert-Brown and Alan Calvert-Brown of Horsforth Heating & Bathrooms has led to one of the most distressing experiences of my entire life. After attempting to get them to do what they told me they would do and not leave me with a hole in my floor, and failing, I left the company a review review. Alan Calvert-Brown who had done a legal degree at BPP Law school immediately started sending me emails claiming defamation and threatening to take me to the high court. Alan Calvert-Brown also told me that every negative review found for them online (unsurprisingly there were quite a few scathing reviews), we defamatory and he would be taking action against them. They are still there to this day. After they realised they couldn't intimidate me and wasn't worried about their hollow legal threats, they went and hired a solicitor. He also threatened me with the high court action for defamation and he also failed to intimidate or worry me. Funnily enough, on the day after my final response to their solicitor, Stewart Calvert-Brown setup a twitter account with the sole intention of making malicious comments about me. Not long after, I found out that Alan Calvert-Brown had filed a defamation claim against me in the county court. This I thought odd as I knew defamation cases had to be heard in the high court, not the county court. Surely someone who had done a law degree like Alan Calvert-Brown had would know this? I spoke to my solicitor and they agreed that a defamation case cannot be heard in the county court and they recommended a suitable barrister to apply to have it struck out. Stewart and Alan Calvert-Brown actively sought to file the claim in the wrong court to take advantage of cost protection the small claims track provides. I think they were shocked when they realised I had hired a barrister. Before the hearing Alan Calvert-Brown phoned my solicitor to say they were willing to settle on a 'drop hands' basis. They were clearly not confident of their case at all and were trying to get out of it. I actually agreed on the basis that they contributed to my legal costs to that point, a fee of £1300 + vat was offered, which they rejected. The hearing went ahead and in it Alan Calvert-Brown argued that my costs submission was too high as a 'newly qualified solicitor' would have ben adequate for may defence. My solicitor argued that defending defamation / libel suits was not generally put in the hands of inexperienced solicitors as it's a specialist area of law. It would seem that Stewart & Alan Calvert-Brown thought I had hired too good a solicitor. Stewart Calvert-Brown and Alan Calvert-Brown didn't even bother to show up to the judgement. They obviously didn't think things were going to go their way. They were right. The claim was struck out and the I was awarded costs of £4755 Stewart Calvert-Brown & Alan Calvert-Brown didn't respect this judgement enough to comply with paying my costs in the required time. They didn't even respond.
