Twice he didn’t come out when he said he would...just didn’t turn up. Then came on third attempt went away saying he would send a quote but never sent one and ignored my text reminding him to send it to me. Ive gone on to find a reliable supplier. Shame as seemed like a nice guy.
After Horsforth Heating and Bathrooms completed work on our house it was noticed that the boiler flue had no cover and the gas pipe had been run across our back door threshold. I know very little about gas fitting but this caused me some concern regarding safety issues (see last picture in photo file). When Horsforth Heating and Bathrooms returned our house key I enquired about the safety aspects of not having a cage on our boiler flue and having a gas pipe running across our threshold. I was informed by Horsforth Heating and Bathrooms that it was our responsibility to fit a flue cage cover and to box the gas pipe in. After speaking to Gas Safe they informed me that it was the fitting contractor’s responsibility to fit a flue cage cover and, to box in the gas pipe at the door threshold to protect it from mechanical damage. We sent an email to Horsforth Heating and Bathrooms 18/03/2011 at 19:05: “I believe that you are responsible for making our outside gas pipe below our access door safe. You also need to place a cage on our boiler flue. I have been informed that both works need to be completed at no extra cost to us. Please could you arrange a time/date to complete your work?” To date we have received no reply. We would have pursued this issue with Gas Safe as advised by them if these issues were not resolved. Due to time restraints and as we felt that this was not only possibly unsafe but also an eye sore (in my opinion) we paid another contractor to reroute the gas pipe and to fit a flue cage cover. This was a very disappointing end to our involvement with Horsforth Heating and Bathrooms.
If I could give less than 1 star I would. I have a receipt I can show to Trustpilot and legal letters and the court judgement to prove every word of this review is true. To this day, Stewart Calvert-Brown is still harassing me, leaving my company malicious reviews when he's had no dealing with my company at all, posting fake and false information about me and my family on social media. One of the most despicable and dishonest individuals I have ever had this misfortune to have come into contact with. Hiring this company and coming into contact with Stewart Calvert-Brown and Alan Calvert-Brown of Horsforth Heating & Bathrooms has led to one of the most distressing experiences of my entire life. After attempting to get them to do what they told me they would do and not leave me with a hole in my floor, and failing, I left the company a review review. Alan Calvert-Brown who had done a legal degree at BPP Law school immediately started sending me emails claiming defamation and threatening to take me to the high court. Alan Calvert-Brown also told me that every negative review found for them online (unsurprisingly there were quite a few scathing reviews), we defamatory and he would be taking action against them. They are still there to this day. After they realised they couldn't intimidate me and wasn't worried about their hollow legal threats, they went and hired a solicitor. He also threatened me with the high court action for defamation and he also failed to intimidate or worry me. Funnily enough, on the day after my final response to their solicitor, Stewart Calvert-Brown setup a twitter account with the sole intention of making malicious comments about me. Not long after, I found out that Alan Calvert-Brown had filed a defamation claim against me in the county court. This I thought odd as I knew defamation cases had to be heard in the high court, not the county court. Surely someone who had done a law degree like Alan Calvert-Brown had would know this? I spoke to my solicitor and they agreed that a defamation case cannot be heard in the county court and they recommended a suitable barrister to apply to have it struck out. Stewart and Alan Calvert-Brown actively sought to file the claim in the wrong court to take advantage of cost protection the small claims track provides. I think they were shocked when they realised I had hired a barrister. Before the hearing Alan Calvert-Brown phoned my solicitor to say they were willing to settle on a 'drop hands' basis. They were clearly not confident of their case at all and were trying to get out of it. I actually agreed on the basis that they contributed to my legal costs to that point, a fee of £1300 + vat was offered, which they rejected. The hearing went ahead and in it Alan Calvert-Brown argued that my costs submission was too high as a 'newly qualified solicitor' would have ben adequate for may defence. My solicitor argued that defending defamation / libel suits was not generally put in the hands of inexperienced solicitors as it's a specialist area of law. It would seem that Stewart & Alan Calvert-Brown thought I had hired too good a solicitor. Stewart Calvert-Brown and Alan Calvert-Brown didn't even bother to show up to the judgement. They obviously didn't think things were going to go their way. They were right. The claim was struck out and the I was awarded costs of £4755 Stewart Calvert-Brown & Alan Calvert-Brown didn't respect this judgement enough to comply with paying my costs in the required time. They didn't even respond.
Just found some old emails from them, whilst the issue was a couple of years ago now, the tone and manner of the threats similar to the other reviews, were quite upsetting.
Terrible company stay well clear & look elsewhere. We bought heating cover via Groupon. We paid for a full years cover upfront. In April 2013 we had a fault with our system we called Horsforth heating who came out to look at our system. It needed a new 3 way valve & main pcb for the boiler. They said they needed to come back & fit the parts also that they were covered under our service plan. The engineer said he'd call to arrange another appointment no one called we called them & on two seperate occasions booked appointments that they didnt attend or contact us to say they wouldnt attend. So we sat at home waiting for them to visit. We eventually received an email saying that as we had cancelled our direct debt (as we didnt want a 2nd years coverage) & hadnt notified them this cancelled our cover even though we'd paid upfront & were still within date. The only way we could get it fixed via them was to take out cover at full & very high price for another year. They attempted to hold us to ransom if you see any offers with them via Groupon dont bother steer well clear
