Marc did an excellent job of addressing the issue I had with the toilet in my main bathroom. Before starting the work, we discussed different options and he explained everything in detail. He also provided several quotes. He did a plumbing camera inspection to ensure there were no problems in the sewer line and also installed a new toilet. He is very knowledgeable, a great communicator and detail oriented with his paperwork. You won’t be disappointed when you work with Marc!
We called them 3 weeks ago with a water/sump pump issue that we have been having. Their first available appointment was 9 days after we initially called- which given the water around was understandable. When the day for the appointment came, I raced home from work to be there on time, only to get a call 1.5 hours after the scheduled time to say they couldn't make it- re-scheduled for the following Monday. My wife took the day off of work for them to show up between 11 and 12. By 1:30 I got a call saying they were late and asking if between 3 and 4 would work. I was a little agitated, however asked them to call my wife to let her know. No phone call to my wife, did not show up at all. Quite rude. Extremely dissatisfied by lack of customer service- 2 times re-arranging our work schedule to show up, only to have phone calls several hours later. Will not recommend. After reviewing comments on here, just curious as to what others think, I find it quite humorous that they will comment back immediately if they feel they have a valid perspective (which they might), but also choose to totally ignore other negative reviews.
Kyle from Birnie & Sons came to assess a job this morning and was talking to my mother in her kitchen when the glass tabletop she was leaning on broke cutting her arm. Kyle not only administered first aid and cleaned and bandaged her arm he cleaned up the broken glass in the kitchen. On the way out he also brought my mother's garbage pails in from the end of the driveway. Later in the afternoon they called back to make sure that she was okay. I can't speak to how well they do their job yet but if Kyle is any indication of the quality of their employees and their company attitude then I am confident they will exceed our expectations.
I called about a runny toilet (using my married name Fotheringham) which in turn caused the pipes to rumble constantly. 2 men came to assess it. They first tried to sell me a new toilet for $1000, then said I should change all the tank parts and quoted me $800. Yes you read that right, $800. I asked about the breakdown of the pricing and they declined any transparency, lecturing me that it was for the good of the customer. I politely sent them on their way. Now, I know NOTHING about plumbing, being a woman and all, but decided to figure out the problem myself. After inspecting the flapper and watching a YouTube video I determined that the only problem was the flapper. I bought one at Canadian Tire and fixed my issue in 10 minutes at a cost of $8. SHAME ON YOU! I feel VILOATED that you would come into my home, and instead of helping me with the most basic fix, try to take advantage of me and rip me off! How do you sleep at night. Absolutely disgusting.
We had our sewer break under the house, and called Birnie and Sons. They came and quoted us for the repair, and did an excellent job. However, there was a hissing sound coming from the water pipe right beside the repair, and we were told it was not leaking. A few hours after they finished cementing the floor from the sewer repair, the water pipe broke and our basement was flooded. They claimed no responsibility, even though the hissing began after the sewer repair, and within inches of the work they were completing. Our water was shut off, and we were promised a phone call to sort out the problem 2 days later. 3 days later, and no phone call. We found a local plumber and he solved the issue (3 days without water). Although the sewer work was done well, and the clean up was great, I was incredibly frustrated with the process concerning the broken water pipes. I also found their prices to be incredibly high compared to other local plumbers. It is unlikely I will require their services in the future.
