Mr. Handyman of Richmond

The people who work for Mr. Handyman are always nice, efficient and very knowledgeable about the things they are doing. They always send technicians who know what they are doing and who treat my house like it is their own. They are a little pricey but I find the friendliness and the expertise worth the additional cost. They seem to be consistently booked so it takes a little time to get a technician to the house but I consider that a god sign. People besides me are hiring them. I will definitely hire them again.

I wish I had read these reviews before using this service. It's clear from interacting with Katie and now reading her responses to the customers that have had bad experiences that she doesn't understand what customer service is really about. It seems like each response is a way to excuse the poor service and validate why she - her company - is in the right. Why not actually make an effort to make the customer happy? Find out how you can make it right? Excuses are not going to get you happy customers. I had two light fixtures and a ceiling fan installed. The ceiling fan was not installed properly as it wobbles and Katie's response to me was it may require a balancing kit? They are now sending someone back out to take a look at the fan. I'm really hoping they make it right... On the original phone call I was told to ask the repair man to give me an estimate for power washing and staining my deck. I was excited to have someone that I could turn to for the things I needed done on my house. When the repair man showed up and I asked him to take a look to give me an estimate, he said "We don't do that, we don't power wash." so yeah, needless to say very poor customer service. The kitchen light and the ceiling fan were both installed without the globe of the light fixtures being wiped out, so they both have tons of lint and particles all on the inside of them! The repair man also left a terrible mess and didn't ask me if I would like him to clean it up or leave it. He just left the messes. I've had lots of people come to repair far more intense things in my house and they never left messes. More about the ceiling fan... I hired a professional service to install the fan and they should be able to install and balance the fan properly. The original timing for the appointment was 9-12 to fix the previous poorly installed ceiling fan and she left me a text message at 10 am asking if I still needed the service?! Now the repair man is scheduled to show up between 12:45 and 1:45. I will write another review after the repair man leaves to see if he indeed fixed the issue. So far I'm not happy at all with the service and I would not recommend using this company ever.

Karl did a fantastic job installing all new fixtures in our bathroom! Also installed a video doorbell and few other random repairs. I thought the pricing was good for the amount of work completed and time spent. Will definitely use Mr. Handyman again in the future. Thanks!

The handyman (Chris) was friendly, professional and highly competent. He handled a problem with my back gate latch with a creative solution that has worked out perfectly. All of the work was done well and efficiently. I have used Mr. Handyman in the past and will continue to do so. It is simply a no-risk option for virtually any kind of job around my home.
