Murry Linton review about company City Works Plumbing & Heating Services

I am not a plumber. I had removed the cartridge from our shower thinking the seal was damaged as the shower leaked. The seal didn't look that bad, so I looked at the seat that seals the unit. The seat was damaged. I went to the hardware store asked a guy that worked their what I do about this. He sold me a tool to remove the seat. The tool didn't work On May 7th I City Works came to my house to fix my problem. After assessing the situation I was informed " the only way to fix this " is to remove 6 tiles, remove and replace the existing valve system. I was told that there is no seat in our system, saying " the valve" is cracked and needed to be replaced. The plumber said it would probably be about 2 to 3 hundred to get the tile work done, but that's not part of what they do. I was then presented with an estimate for $795 for City Works portion of the job. Feeling that, no there has to be another way. I went back to the hardware store, pictures on my phone. Explained my situation, the guy helping me didn't know how to help. He asked his co worker, he knew what I needed and the proper tool to fix this immediately. He said " the valve " was actually the seat. He sold me the seat and the proper tool. I repaired this myself in literally 10 minutes. I was charged $42 for gas, because I chose not to have the work done, saying if I do get the work done it would be taken off the bill. I called City Works on May 8th, admittedly angry because I thought your company tried to rip me off. I spoke to Richard, he tried to tell me that what I did was just a quick fix, and that his technician said the valve, which is actually a seat, is cracked and they only fix things properly. Well, my " quick fix " is a proper fix, and cost less than $20 and 10 minutes of my time. I wanted my $42 returned, and an explanation. My thoughts are either you sent someone here that's inexperienced or this is how your company does business. I don't know because today is May 16th and I haven't heard back from Richard yet.
