Very bad experience with James 'Hamish' Ross and his father (of the same name). They came to do little jobs and were polite and friendly. Then I had a new shower room installed by some builder friends who were doing other work. Later that year, my pipes burst in the freeze and water thundered from the top floor bathroom right down through the house. I called James Ross for emergency help, the only plumber I knew. He put his wife on the phone and told me that he wasn't going to lift a finger because he had wanted to install the shower room and I had used someone else. (I should say, I had never promised him the job or even mentioned it to him - but this is a small village). I mentioned this incident to other local people and they were not surprised.
