Have used MTG for both personal and commercial reasons and have always been happy with the end result.

I used More than Gas for a boiler service. They arrived on time, very tidy working practice and polite engineer. I would use them again for the next one.

Awful service, very hard to reach when was trying to get an explanation of the problem/quote and charged for a quote when didn’t explain there would be a charge beforehand a month after the visit. When I tried to speak to them about the invoice they just threatened to take me to court. Will never use again. I do not recommend.

If it were possible to give minus stars, I would. Workmanship not good, and customer service even worse. i) Job not completed, so needed to reschedule a second visit ii) Plumber did not turn up for second appointment - with no notice iii) Charged more than the original quote iv) Refused to give breakdown of costs of parts, which were clearly overpriced and an obvious 'company policy' to siphon more from their customers. v) Phone calls to follow up went un-returned, but I was then peppered with abusive emails and court action (similar to reviewer below Judith) Never again.

VISIT ONE: Serviced boiler (which had been working well until this service for two years) and then it stopped working. I went away immediately after the service, no time to ensure it was working and the weather was warm at the time, being a trusting soul assumed it was working, after all it had just been serviced. When I returned the weather was really cold, tried the heating system and could not get it to work. It immediately showed a boiler fault. Low pressure. I called the company back and asked for an engineer to come and review the boiler to see if it was something they had left undone, but was told the pressure sensor was faulty and was not dropping below 1.1 bar. Yes this could be a coincident, however in the last two years the boiler had never dropped pressure below 1.3 before and in 2 years never had to top it up. I also noticed the concrete floor below the boiler was now slightly wet. I had cleaned and vaccuumed the cupboard before the service and know it was dry and very dusty. The guy I spoke to said he was in the area and would pop around to see the boiler, I had no idea this was being treated as an Emergency call! I also told him I am pretty sure I had not had the central system on since the service but the water was still heating up until I came back from holiday. VISIT TWO : Emergency call out fees.£98 He came out but failed to sort anything out, bled system, blind filled system, fiddled around and DESPITE the fact the boiler was still not working was charged for his time however much it was a waste of time. He did say I had a leak somewhere in the system, which of course was not evident due to the wet concrete floor below the boiler, I think I could have deduced that! VISIT THREE : Booked to come out the following day, I thought to replace the pressure sensor but did not replace pressure sensor but the AAV valve. I am not convinced it needed doing, however even with a new AAV valve funnily enough, the boiler still did not work, despite being blind filled again, but the leak in the concrete and was worse now. More charges. VISIT FOUR : Another visit by the manager of this company also failed to mend boiler, blind filled again, but was told it was now working albeit still needed sensor and still had a leak and the leak was from the pipe work just below the boiler ( poor diagnosis and totally wrong), but I got home and it was not working - I still had a leak in the system somewhere, still not found leak or replaced sensor. At least this time there was no charge. But no action that actually repaired the ‘’fault” or found the leak. I contacted the company to see if they were going to come out and find the leak and replace the sensor i was told on visit 2, and was told pay bill or they would not come back. Then the company Manager sent an email stating if I dont pay, the debt is passed on via their proceedures. THREATENING EMAIL. They were paid nearly £276 for servicing and breaking my boiler and three useless visits. Legal advice is being sought by me to recover costs. Another plumber took 1 hour to repair the leaking joint which was from pipe work leading from a lounge radiator that was just buried in the concrete, after draining the system, replaced the sensor (cost £22) and charged £60 plus vat. Shame on this company, I offered to pay part of the bill they refused point blank, offered a discount on future work. I feel they caused the fault in the first place, they then messed about visiting three times without finding the fault and left me with a large bill for the boiler servicing and three attempts to mend this issue. They have been paid in full because they threatened to take me to court. I would like to know what happened to a fair and equitable service? I would not recommend this company: 1. if they do come out and do not do a good job they use heavy handed techniques to extract the money from you by threatening court action, whether you are happy or not. 2. I am not actually convinced they even know what they are doing.
