I have been meaning to write this review since Thames Drains came out due to an emergency with my Foul Drains. I cannot recommend them enough they were extremely understanding and professional (although I notice they have had bad reviews) in their approach. Yes it was expensive but then I did not appreciate the scale of the work with root issues etc and the fact that you really should have your drains descaled at least every 8 - 10 years. If their is any criticism and you can always find some I should of taken photos or rather told them I was looking at an Insurance Claim for the root damage. My insurance eventually got sorted. I had a call-out for a blocked drain. The chap came from 9am to 1pm. When he left, I was presented with a bill for £736. Within that, £259 appeared to be a charge for chemicals. I paid in full, but telephoned the office and asked for a breakdown and justification, as I have just a small semi-detached house. I was assured that I would receive a breakdown by email - no one has contacted me and the phone is now not being answered.

Called up and was told it’s £35 for first 30 mins. Turns out the £35 is just the labour but if you want them to use any equipment it’s another £60 for 30 mins. Plus vat. We spent £228 for 1 hrs work most of which was assembling the equipment and problem wasn’t solved. We said to the man on the phone our dissatisfaction but he couldn’t have cared less. We use services like this a lot for our properties and would recommend people avoid Thames drains at all costs at £227 an hour! Workman on site was friendly though ????

Good response however be aware of the charges and how much is quoted. their rates are per half hour and not for the job. They arrive and charge per hour then in addition for the equipment used for the number of hours. This is not always made clear up front so you will get a shock later. In addition, makes it difficult to compare quotes. I would have expected the drain cleaners to have their equipment included in the quote. After all, you do not empoly any other trades people and then they charge for their equipment, seems very unreasonable. You do no have to pay painter, decorators, builders for their tools that is why they provide a specialist service. So be aware what is and isn't included in the charges.

Do not use this company! Total rip off! Over charged us by exaggerating the time they were on site and the time they used a piece of equipment for to inflate the total cost. Made a total mess which they didn't clean up, didn't have the equipment needed to finish the job. Engineer was rude and did not explain the costs and rates correctly. Left feeling very mislead and cheated.
