Fortunately, this cowboy firm is no longer trading due, I think, to Carl Spencer retiring. The work he and his son did for us was appalling. We told him exactly what we wanted, with catalogues and numbers from items we had been to see at various outlets ourselves. They substituted them for cheap alternatives and still charged us for the ones we had chosen. He promised to sort out the flooring in the bathroom and said he would board it out. He didn’t, so the tiles don’t lie smoothly. His workmanship was dreadful and his sons’s was even worse. We’ve spent money on replacing lots of his stuff, including the shower cubicle, the bath panel, the taps and the toilet. Apparently, there was more sealant used by them than the plumber had ever seen. Oh yes, and he plumbed the shower in the wrong way round, didn’t include an isolator switch and used the wrong sort of light bulbs. And cut the tiles on our landing, without dust sheets and without shutting any doors so the whole house was covered in dust. Complete and utter shambles. Hope his son isn’t carrying on as a plumber anywhere else. If he is, avoid him like the plague!

Some years ago ACS Plumbing and Heating, Wetheral, Carlisle. (Messrs Carl and Adam Spencer) installed a new gas boiler in my property. Subsequently, I discovered some ancillary works had been installed incorrectly, including the flue which was described 12 months later, as "requiring remedial works" by British Gas. Subsequently, I found structural damage to my property, including, but not limited to, cracked bricks and roof tiles, the latter, crudely disguised by a sheet of lead. Also, they "forgot" to register the work with Gas Safe. Despite requests to correct certain defects and damage, this firm was unresponsive. Appalling workmanship and appalling service. I would suggest avoid !
