My 3 months old water heater was not working. I was told the sensor was not under warranty. He was going to charge me $129 for the part that he had to get downtown (plus his driving time of $80) plus the original service fee of $129/hour. I called the hot water heater company, they said it was under warranty and cost $27 for the part and they would send it out for free. He tried to reset the sensor and said it didn't work. The hot water company said there was a certain method to reset the sensor. Obviously, the person that was in my home was incompetent. Probably all I needed was to properly reset the sensor. This company is the worst, scam artists.....
Recently had MBH Mechanical perform a maintenance inspection on my furnace. Good information, and great service! Will definitely have them back to service my air conditioner in the summer and perform some needed electrical work!
I hired Jim from MBH Mechanical to do change got water tank and move to a different room. I was unable to be there the day of the install because I needed to work. I had asked Jim to get his son to come by sometime to take a look at all the electrical in the basement. Jim took it upon himself without contacting me or telling my wife who was home at the time that he was going to get his son to install a new plug down stairs next to the water heater all though there was already a plug there. His son installed the new plug and went upstairs to my wife with a debit machine in hand and demanded payment of almost 700 for one plug. My wife who knew nothing of this and could not reach me at work assumed it was ok and payed him. Later when my wife was able to reach me and told me this I called Jim right away and demanded answers to this additional cost. He proceeded to tell me the plug already down there may not be good enough so he had his son put new one. After a argument jim who was installing water heater hurried as quick as he could to finish job and ran all water lines wrong and over top of my joists rather then drilling holes. Once I confronted him about the water lines he again apologized and said he would return to fix. Jim was payed in full and never returned to finish the job. Jim also does not give out his cell phone number. If you want to reach Jim you must call his wife at office and you will not getter called back. Lesson learned, dont hire contractor that doesn't give out his cell phone number. Obviously something shady going on. Plumber Jim and Jim Jr are crooks beware!
