I am so sad to write this review. My family feels BRS was not as thorough as they should have been and are driven by profit, not our comfort. We have since given our business to another business after discovering today that it is only the sensor of the TXV that is faulty, not the entire TXV like BRS told us on Monday. In late May, we first called BRS and Chris came out. After doing a leak search for our upstairs AC unit, the leak could not be found so Chris topped off the unit with 5 pounds of Freon and LeakStop. It is now early July and the upstairs AC unit, which is a Trane and only 7 years old, is not working properly again. Having initially hired BRS back in late May, we called on them again. When the estimate came back for the entire TXV, removing and then putting back the refrigerant, and a RETURN service fee, we were shocked at the $1400 estimate - and that was apparently after warranty pricing on the TXV. Chris did say he would be willing to work on price if I accepted the estimate. When I asked to get a quote for replacing the upstairs inside unit, BRS did not try to suggest it was a small repair but were quick to say they’d have a salesman call me back the next day. I never got a call back. Since having a consult with Albemarle Heating and Air, they shook their head about the work BRS did in May, as it came off suspicious that a leak search was completed but no leak could be found yet it needed a lot of Freon. That and Leak Stop can apparently lead to other problems, such as issues with the TXV as we have now. The tech with another company thoroughly inspected everything and found it was only the sensor part of the TXV. However, even they missed the mark and we had to go with a third company, who discovered it was the COIL that was the issue. Our TXV is electrical and given the young age of the unit, it is unusual for it to break. So the sensor turned out to be estimated at only $200! That and the tech from the second company manually opened the valve so air can at least flow better than it was - and did not charge us extra! How come BRS did not take a moment to consider our comfort and do this kindness? My mother is 71 years old, mercy! And the second company, unlike BRS, did not charge a return service fee to finish the job once the part arrived. BRS was not rude, and I do credit them for arriving same day, but our family feels taken advantage of, as if the work done in May led to this new issue in July which would require them to come out again. I no longer trust BRS. I am deeply disappointed.
I have used Blue Ridge Services twice in the last month. They have been responsive, reasonably priced, professional and go the extra mile. They've made it to our preferred vendor list. The work was electrical in nature, but we'll be calling them for HVAC and plumbing as well!
I've worked with Blue Ridge for about 15 years, and I won't call anyone else. I love these guys!
I called Blue Ridge Services yesterday concerning some electrical problems that we were having with some lighting in 3 rooms in our house. They came within an hour. We have an old school fuse box. They fixed the problem in a honest and efficient way. They were very polite and professional. We intend to use them for all our future service calls. Thanks
Professional, quick, polite and efficient! Great experience for what I thought would be a dreaded pain. Had the system the next day and installed. Four years of dealing with crappy AC and they had me freezing by 5pm. Very happy!
