Affordable Plus Plumbing

Wow where do I begin. This company needs a reality check. Sub par techs with absolutely sub par abilities. I called Old Republic home warranty company to file a claim on a water line leak in my attic. They told me Affordable Plus was going to be dispatched out to fix the problem. I've heard through the grapevine horror stories concerning this company so declined the dispatch and requested another company. Unfortunately they were the only ones that could come out the same day so I agreed. Oh.... did I say I've been a Gen. Contractor in the area for the last 28 yrs? Hence the grapevine. Well the tech came out, saw the water stains in the ceiling and he and I crawled into the attic. I showed him the wet insulation and water drips. He proceeded to tell me there was no leak. Okay, after arguing with him for ten minutes I climbed out of the attic and went inside assuming he'd spend some time at least searching for a leak. Instead he stormed out of the attic, collapsing the sheetrock underneath on his way out the door. I contacted Old Republic and told them what happened. They contacted Richard, the owner of Affordable who basically blamed the sheetrock damage on me. After looking at all his reviews this type of "Blame it on the other Guy" mentality is par for the course with Richard and his business. 99% of home warranty calls this company services have given him nothing better than a 2 star rating IF he's lucky. Most are 1 star ratings. If your a homeowner who pays Affordable directly it sounds like they handle the job as it should be. If your going through a home warranty company it's an entirely different story. Old Republic is as much at fault. They keep sending contractors with this type of reputation and mentality out in the field as a representative of they're business, but claim NO liability for the work that is done. GOOD or BAD it doesn't matter to them as long as they're getting paid. It's all about the money. The next day another contractor came out and fixed the problem. It's contractors like Affordable Plus Plumbing that give all the good contractors a bad wrap in the business. So, Moral to this story is: If your looking for a good plumbing company who cares about the customer, they're reputation, and understands what the word "ETHICS" stands for, find another plumbing company and Scroll right past Affordable. They obviously skipped the ethics class somewhere along the way. This contractors tech fell through my ceiling and would not admit to it...Really????

I would not recommend using this plumbing company! They have come out to fix two different parts on my hot water heater, according to them. The first time they blamed it on the pressure relief valve , which turned out to be a faulty part or never was actually replaced . Hot water heater worked for about 6 weeks then same problem of leaking returned . They came out a second time and say they replaced thermostats . Hot water heater worked for about a month and same problem returned. They then suggested replacement of a cost of about $1600. New company said they should have told us there was a valve that could be put in to at least bypass water heater until it was repaired so we didn’t have to turn off water to the whole house due to the leak. New company installed valve for free. affordable has since proceeded to never return my calls about replacement because they clearly didn’t want to work with my warranty company! Have recently had another plumber out that said affordable should have offered warranty on parts and they did not. New plumbing company also said that that affordable should have informed us that pvc piping on water heater is not appropriate. New company said water heater should be replaced at a cost of $1200, much less than affordable plumbing. Long story short , the work was crappy if even done at all. I believe they were just out to nickel and dime us on part after part and make money each time only to have to have it replaced in the end at a way elevated price. Not sure they even replaced the parts they said they did . Cheap at first but not worth it in the end ! To add injury to insult the owner of the company responds to my post with “ water heater was in a mobile home “ . Honestly what does that have to do with anything , as if to imply I don’t have money for repairs . I ended up getting a company that worked with those from the warranty and had no issues at all with the process , it was not difficult ! I paid $900 for a new water heater and installation, with only $90 out of pocket for me . Water heater works great and the company was amazing , I faired much better in the end finding a company that wasn’t trying to price gouge me and kept their word !

For the record... as a real estate property manager, and as a home owner, I have worked with Affordable Plus Plumbing for maybe 20 years on a very regular basis. They do work for me on my homes, my friends homes, and on all my clients properties. Like me, they are a small, family operation. Like any family might we may have our occasional frustration but we respect each other and get along well - and the work gets done. I use them. I recommend them.

Our expereience with Affordable Plumbing was complete opposite from Jennifers. They are prompt, professional and cleanly in their work. They are the only plumbing company we trust in our home because they have always been honest and up front with all our plumbing needs.
