Have used this company several times in the past, and most recently today. They are first-rate, their technicians are professional, knowledgeable, and very polite. The work has been excellent, prices competitive. Would go no place else!
Called late Saturday night stating that our AC unit was throwing codes and shutting down. Was told from the tech that if it happened more frequently to call them back and they would send someone out ASAP to look at it. Called early Sunday afternoon as it did continue to happen more frequently but we shut the unit down so we would not cause any damage. Tech said all my information was in the sysytem as we had used them prior (last year) and he would have Trey, the service manage call us first thing in the morning with a service call. No call came in, so at 8:15am I called and the office proceeded to tell me that they changed there "routes"and do not service Hamburg anymore. My question is. "Why the hell didn't the first guy know when we called him especially him saying that he knew all our information being that we were in the system." Stay away!!! Would not recommend this company after this! Would give you a zero star if I could! Communication! Communication!
Delivered carrier ac units nice people
I have used Gehringer for years. They have provided HVAC services several times, and have made plumbing repairs for me too. I am planning a non-emergency plumbing project soon, and they will be my company of choice. Each technician who worked for me was courteous, professional and skilled. The people of this company work as a team. There are no lone wolves who seem more like lost sheep on the job. Even when a single technician is sent, knowledge is a phone call away if needed. After all, nobody has seen it all! My HVAC system is VERY unusual. It has been customized in ways I would not expect anyone to understand without a few minutes of head scratching. Yet, they have never let me down! Their prices have never left me feeling cheated. In fact, calling Gehringer NEVER leaves me with that typical feeling of financial dread many people get when calling for home repairs. I honestly do not understand some of the ratings and experiences related by other customers on this website. Perhaps some of their criticisms were fair at the time. However, communications skills are necessary when dealing with contractors. It is a two way street of course, and I have not known anyone from Gehringer to fail when communicating with me. Update: June 2019 - my heat pump compressor died on a Saturday. I called the emergency number, and was not called back. When I called during regular hours on Monday, the person I talked to was unconcerned about the lack of a return call, ignored what I had just said, and simply responded, "what can I do for you?" They sent a tech, who diagnosed my compressor as seized. There was no question that was true. The charge was fair, and I asked for someone to address replacing my system asap. I asked for them to hurry, as heat makes me feel ill. I received a copy of the service call bill by mail, but to this day, I have never heard from a sales rep about replacing the system. I had a different company come out within one day of my call to their company. They decided what was needed, gave me efficiency options, priced the system I requested, and completed the install. I never did receive a sales call from Gehringer. I still trust their work, and would call during work hours if I needed them again, but won't use the emergency number. I would drop my rating to three stars overall if I could.
We asked them to come out and take a look at our system, The problem was the pressure of the water was very low. They said we need a new boiler so we contracted to put one in. We still had low water pressure after they put the heater in, and the downstairs thermostat was regulating the upstairs and the upstairs thermostat was regulating the downstairs. They thought the thermostat wasn’t working and wanted to charge us for a new one but it wasn’t the thermostat, it was they installed it wrong with the boiler. We called them to fix that. When telling us about the new boiler, they never said anything about having to flush the system until we complained that there still was low water pressure with the new boiler. When we called to say the water pressure was still low, they came out and said it was a pressure valve and sent out a plumber. The plumber said it was the Heating unit, he sent a heating mechanic and that guy said it needed to be acid washed. According to everything that we have seen it is standard to do an acid wash on the system when putting in a new boiler in an old house. We had them come out and fix the water pressure system in which they flushed the system but the damage to the new boiler has already been done if there is any, We will find out soon enough. We were charged for the acid wash and it wasn’t cheap. We may not have even needed a new boiler after all. Moral of the story, get a second opinion and Google to educate yourself. I will not call them again.
