I hired Leo Kob after another customer gave a favorable recommendation. I requested they set up electric for a bedroom ceiling light, as well as installation of the ceiling light. When I called to make an appointment, I reviewed their hourly rate with an employee, which they indicated is $84 per hour. I was never told that they charge an additional fee to travel to my home. I was never told they charge an additional fee to load up equipment from the warehouse. I was never told there would be an additional fee for another employee to bring equipment to the site. The technician arrived at 7:30 am on 12/26/18. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. After discussing the job, he indicated that he would have another employee bring him 14/3 wire, which is commonly used in residential electric. During the job, the technician asked for help feeding wire and a few other small tasks. We helped with no issue. He completed a satisfactory job and left my home at 11:30 am that day, which totaled 4 hours of labor. Upon receipt of the bill, I found that I was charged for 4.75 hours of labor. I reached out to the company and spoke with another employee. I explained that I was unclear on the additional .75 hour charge. The gentleman indicated that he spoke with his technician, and said the fee was likely for travel time or loading up equipment for the job. I indicated that travel time from the business location to my home was only ten minutes and verified that through google maps. The employee agreed with my estimate of ten minutes, which accounted for 10 of the 45 minute overcharge. He then said that the charge was likely for the technician to load equipment into his vehicle for the job. (Apparently 35 minutes wasn’t enough time for the technician to load the fairly common 14/3 wire because another employee had to deliver it to the job site). The employee then laughed at me and said that he has never had any problems with this particular technician and he was still going to pay him for the job. I politely ended the call after my bill was not adjusted. There was never an issue with the technician’s work. The issue lies within the overcharging of labor fees and the company not being able to specifically identify why the additional .75 hourly rate was charged. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau on 1/7/19. Leo Kob is not accredited with the BBB and is not required to respond to the complaint within 20 days as an accredited business is required. As of 1/31/19, Leo Kob has not responded to the BBB, nor did they contact me to clarify the overcharge of labor fees, or adjust the bill. The bill was paid in full on 1/30/19. While I see other customers had great reviews of this company, maybe I was that one person who didn’t have a favorable experience. I stood up for what I know is right, and was laughed at during a phone conversation. A business that is truthful with customers and treats them with respect is very important to me. When charging a customer for 4.75 hours of labor but only performing 4 hours of actual labor, have a clear documentation of why there was an additional charge. Don’t laugh at your customers when they call to calmly discuss the billing error. My purpose of this lengthy review is not to call out others for their wrong doing, but rather educate other consumers on my personal experience. Please do your research on other residential electric companies in the area. There is a family owned business in the area that charges a much more reasonable rate of $60 per hour. That company was actually recommended to me by a commercial electrical contractor. As for Leo Kob, I would not recommend them due to their poor customer service. I care about customer service and as a consumer paying top dollar for their labor rate, you should care too.

If you’re going to hire a driver you should probably make sure they aren’t going to run others off the road. Not a good look for your company for someone driving a company truck
