Mr. Mueller walked me through how to check what was wrong with my septic system while we were on the phone, which helped him figure out what he needed to bring to get it fixed. He and his crew all arrived on time and got everything running properly after installing a new pump and wiring. Overall, excellent service.

We were adding a patio to our home and the septic lines needed to be modified along with our tank pumped. Mueller Septic came in with a more than reasonable bid and efficient! First contractor to show up on time and get the job done!!! Thanks Mike!

Mueller Septic Services was the only one business out of the four I called which answered the phone. They had two workmen and a truck at my house the next morning (today). They were finished and gone in just a couple of hours despite discovering a few surprises/challenges left behind by the previous homeowner (and possibly also by Gann Brothers Septic Tank Services). And, the price was under $200. Read on for the full story... I bought my current home in 2007, which was built in 2002. As part of closing on the purchase, I hired Gann Brothers Septic Tank Services to service and inspect the septic tank. Their fee was $500. And, with all I had going on, I didn't bother with shopping around (first mistake). I was just happy to find someone that would do the job and get it out of the way. Since I didn't yet own the property, I was not present for the work. So, I did not supervise it and relied upon trust in this business to do the job properly (second mistake). After closing, I looked for and found an area of disturbed ground where the work must have been done. And, after a month of flushing, bathing, and other drainage without issue, I was satisfied that the work had been completed as expected. Although, the only inspection report I received was a verbal assurance that everything was normal and routine. Seven years later, the tank was overdue to be serviced again. So, I contacted Gann Brothers again, since I didn't have any issues before. But, nobody answered and I had to leave a message. In the meantime, I called similar businesses in the area for price comparison. The first business to answer the phone, Mueller Septic Services, quoted me $195. What?! Deflation? They even said they could come out the next day. So, I accepted the offer and scheduled service for the next day. I presumed Gann Brothers would call me back soon and we could negotiate a similar price. And, when they did, I would just cancel my scheduled service with Mueller. Gann Brothers never did call back (and still hasn't). However, a Mueller truck showed up this morning as planned. I took the worker to the area where the previous work had taken place. And, what he eventually found was disturbing. The previous homeowner had built a deck which extends over most of the tank's cover. Despite the deck's imposition, the tank was still accessible to be serviced. But, removing the cover was impossible without disassembling and removing custom lattice which covered the gap between the deck and the ground. After confirming the location of the tank, the worker began digging into the exposed area of ground to better determine accessibility. He pulled out a paver stone covering a broken/knocked-out corner of the tank cover. The worker speculated that the previous service by Gann Brothers may have created and/or used the notch in the cover to avoid fully removing it which would have also required work done to the lattice. If the worker's speculations are correct, the tank may not have been serviced properly (meaning, only the liquid waste was pumped out) and was certainly never inspected properly. Not enough evidence is available to confirm the speculations (why I gave them a two-star review instead of one-star). However, again, the only report I received from Gann Brothers was a verbal assurance that everything was normal and routine - nothing about the broken tank cover or the improper (probably against building code) and awkward access to the tank cover. And, what about that price difference? Was the additional $305 in value from confirming a septic tank was in the ground? To wrap up this long story, I still have to figure out a way to repair or replace my deck's lattice in a way that allows for future service. But, I'm also left with a lot more knowledge about my septic tank's location and condition (not to mention access situation). Thanks goes to Mueller Septic Services for being patient with me and for not ripping me off.
