Timm Melvin Plumbing

Absolutely dishonest!  We called Timm Melvin Plumbing and made arrangements for the install of our new heat pump water heater, that we had at the house already. Timm himself said that the installers would arrive at 9 am. Timm Melvin plumbing is 13 miles (20 minutes from our home). Timm’s crew of two was supposed to arrive at the agreed time, but instead arrived after I called Timm at 10:23 am. Timm’s crew arrived at our home at 10:40 am. They were friendly, professional and clean while they were here. They took approximately 30 minutes for lunch and returned to their work. At 4:40 pm Timm’s crew left our home. We consider the above to be an honest day's work. Sure, Timm’s team arrived late, but nothing is on the dot punctual. We received the bill for 8.5 hours of labor for 2 employees at a rate of $85 and $70 per hour, when in fact they were only at our house for 6 hours. After calling to request clarification, we were told that the customer is charged from the time the team leaves the shop to the time they return. However, that still does not justify an extra 2.5 hours. We could accept an additional hour for a total of 7, but 8.5 just didn't appear justified. He said he would discuss the time with his employees and would call us back, which he did shortly thereafter. He then said, that the customer also had to pay for the time the employees needed to load the truck prior to leaving the shop, and unloading the truck once they returned (a direct contradiction to what he had said on the phone less than an hour earlier). He then said the best he can do is discount by 1 hour; $85. To me that means 1 hour per employee, meaning a discount of $85 and $70. He then said, no it would be a half hour per employee, only $85. When I said that didn't really seem honest he said, well that's the best he can do because his wife is already yelling at him that he shouldn't discount at all. The business' name is Timm Melvin Plumbing not Timm Melvin’s Wife Plumbing. We believe an honest day's work equals an honest day's pay. Timm Melvin appears to pay his employees well, and we respect him for that, but to cheat customers by inflating the hours worked is absolutely unacceptable. If he is willing to lie about labor, it makes us wonder how honest he was about the material that we were charged... If you (the reader) value your honest earned money find a different plumber. TIMM MELVIN CANNOT BE TRUSTED TO BE HONEST.

Really great business, I highly recommend them. Very helpful and extremely friendly. Incredibly helpful explaining things they need to do and answered all the questions I had!!!

Employee was great, owner is a different story. Questionable billing. $80/hr for service calls and charged us for travel time to and from our home as an extra hour. Suggest finding someone else if you don't want to get ripped off. Learn from our mistake.

Great customer service and very fairly priced!

Be prepared to owe them at a minimum of $90.00+. We only had to have a valve tightened and it cost of 94.00. When we finally got ahold of them to find out what the problem was, we were told he was in there and was only able to find a loose valve. The owner then blamed us for not having the water or power on. It's a vacant home, and flashlights do exist. It took them either just under or over an hour to finish the job...owner said just under, but then quickly stumbled on his words and changed it to just over. We will not be using them again. We are military and are across the country, so courtesy and honesty goes a long way, when you are trying to get things taken care of.
