Buyer beware - really bad experience. I'm a landlord and one of my apartments had a blocked drain while I was out of town so I couldn't attend to it. I had called about 10-12 other plumbers, none had availability. I finally called Rooter-Man and he strangely enough had some same-day openings, which should have been my first warning sign (no one else could come that day). He finally showed up at my house, did in fact clear the drain, and was literally in and out in a total of 7 minutes, my tenant timed it. My bill? $295. When I asked how he received this figure, he began to argue with me about all of the overhead he has and that "all landlords are the same, they don't want to pay!" I couldn't even get a word in because he just kept listing all the things he has to pay for and was very angry due to my question. I'm all for a business making a fair profit and I completely understand the overhead that he has; however, I feel that $295 just to show up as his "standard charge' is outrageous. At a rate of essentially $300 for about 10 minutes, that would equate to $1,800 per hour. I don't know many tradesmen that are able to command this figure. To make matters worse, my tenant had said the shower was also leaking, which he told me he could repair. I don't believe he even checked the leak because as soon as he left, I got a second call from my tenant that the leak persisted. Thus, I had to call a second plumber to get the issue properly taken care of. While I did appreciate his fast service, due to his attitude and pricing, this will be the first and last time I call Rooter-Man.
